Paragliding in Pakistan
Paragliding, a free flying sport where people can experience the thrill of flight and enjoy the scenery, is becoming increasingly popular in Pakistan, where it offers a perfect way to fly like a bird.
This sport was introduced in Pakistan mainly by European climbers when they visited the country during the 80s to climb some of it’s world-famous giants like Nanga Parbat.However, it was in 1990 that a Pakistani mountaineer, Jabbar Bhatti, 50, demonstrated paragliding by flying in the northern city of Abbottabad for state television network.
Pakistan is home to five of the world’s peaks over 8,000 meters (2,6246 feet) and lies on the convergence of the Himalayas, Hindu Kush, Karakoram, and Pamir ranges and plenty of ideal locations for paragliding.
