Gasherbrum-II Expedition

Gasherbrum II, also known as K4, is the 13th highest mountain in the world, with an elevation of 8,035 meters (26,362 feet). It is located in the Karakoram mountain range on the border between Pakistan and China, near the Baltoro Glacier.

The first successful ascent of Gasherbrum II was made in 1956 by an Austrian team led by Fritz Moravec. Since then, many climbers from around the world have attempted to climb this peak, and it has become a popular destination for mountaineers.

The base camp for Gasherbrum II is located on the Baltoro Glacier, which is a popular trekking route in the region. The trek to the base camp starts from the town of Skardu, which can be reached by a flight from Islamabad or by a long drive from Gilgit.

The climbing season for Gasherbrum II is from June to August, which is the peak climbing season in the region. Climbers need to be prepared for extreme weather conditions, as the mountain is located in a high-altitude and remote area. The climb to the summit of Gasherbrum II is challenging and technical, with steep sections and exposure to high winds and cold temperatures.

To climb Gasherbrum II, climbers need to be well-equipped with proper gear and equipment, and should be accompanied by experienced guides and support staff. The climb requires a high level of climbing skills and experience, and climbers should be in excellent physical condition.

Despite the challenges, Gasherbrum II is a popular destination for climbers who are drawn to its beauty and the sense of adventure that comes with climbing one of the highest peaks in the world.
